Historic Preservation...More than Saving Old Buildings
For some American cities, the awakening of the historic preservation movement in the 1970s came much too late. The Dayton region is fortunate in that we have managed to preserve many of our irreplaceable historic neighborhoods and landmarks. Preservation Dayton has been at the forefront of promoting the economic, environmental, and social benefits of historic preservation in our region since 1983. We'll explore these benefits and the preservation challenges facing our community.
About Monica Snow
Monica Snow is Vice President of Preservation, Inc. and President of Dayton Preservation Works, CDC. She's been an advocate for community-building in Dayton since moving to the Oregon Historic District in 1978. The threatened demise of her one-room country school in Nebraska, a summer hitchhiking through Europe, and living in Mississippi have contributed to her lifelong passion for historic preservation.
In addition to her volunteer roles, she has worked in strategic marketing in the technology, legal, and consumer sectors. She holds an MBA from Wright State University, master's degrees from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor's from the University of Nebraska.
