Celebrate America’s 250th with an artful collage experience!
Join artist Marsha Pippenger for Dynamic Duo: Color and Collage, a hands-on workshop exploring color, texture, and personal expression through paper collage. The use of patriotic colors is encouraged as part of our Celebrate250! series, but guests are welcome to follow their own creative inspiration.
During this relaxed workshop, you’ll cut, tear, twist, layer, and glue beautiful papers to create an original collage of your own. No artistic experience is needed. Marsha will guide you through the process and help you notice color, shape, shadow, line, and texture as you build a piece that feels uniquely yours.
All materials are provided. Just bring yourself and your creative spirit.
We are open to the general public. Our venue is fully accessible with a ramp entrance.
Cancellations must be requested at least 3 days before the event. No refunds will be given after that date.
About the Artist
Marsha Pippenger’s collages are often mistaken for paintings when viewed at a distance, which is perfectly fine with the artist, who often says, “I paint with paper.”
Pippenger is best known for colorful, textural collages inspired by nature, current events, and literary references. A closer look at her complex images reveals tiny vignettes within the larger composition, all created by combining handmade and other papers into a rhythmic whole.
She has been making art for the Dayton community and beyond for more than 30 years. Her work can be found in the collections of Dayton Children’s Hospital, The Dayton Foundation, Dayton Metro Library, Human Race Theatre Company, Five Rivers Health Centers, and other public and private collections.
