Rediscovering Strength in our Roots

September 2024

By President Margaret Kruckemeyer & Vice President Kim Villalva

Chief Meteorologist Austin Chaney of WHIO-Channel 7 speaks to members of the Presidents Club.

From our DWC website: “In 1916, a group of civic-minded women met to plan for an organization to provide women…with a center for social, civic, and literary activities. Members of the Club were leaders within the community, promoting music, art, education, civil rights, and suffrage.”

This section about our origins and purpose doesn’t just reveal our history, rather it reflects who we still are today. Through our ongoing hard work and networking efforts, we continue provide a space for both women and men to gather, connect, and work to better their community.

Each month, we continue to see this strength from our past in our current DWC programs and events at the Club. Our Lunch & Learns and other programs offer stimulating topics and even hands-on experiences for attendees to learn from and reflect on through thoughtful discussions with others in attendance. Additionally, our partner groups hold engaging meetings at our House, bringing the past full circle as we provide that welcoming space for them to gather and work.

The Dayton Woman’s Club has been serving the community for more than 100 years. The traditions and heritage of our empowered leaders have been passed down to today’s energetic and enthusiastic women and men.

Want to experience some of that empowerment and enthusiasm? Join us for one of our upcoming programs! You'll enjoy learning about a new topic, visiting with old and new friends, and discussing history in new and creative ways.

We continue to strive to carry the best of our past forward to create a better tomorrow. Come see this strength in who we are and what we do each and every month.
