President’s Message
August 2024
By President Margaret Kruckemeyer
Many of us are watching the team-building successes of relays conducted during the Olympics of 2024.
Your historic Dayton Woman’s Club is also ramping up its ‘Relay for Living’ into the future by creating new member leaders and sideline volunteers that will be needed to pass the torch of the club’s legacy as a community advocate for creating and sustaining a better place for all to thrive and to meet the challenges of the Club’s future.
Members and friends of the DWC are helping to bolster upcoming programs by donating items like heirloom tea sets and decorations. These items enhance the teaching of social interaction, art appreciation, and business etiquette skills, which can enhance lifelong learning and career goal-setting practices.
Just as the Olympics demonstrate the power of unity and teamwork, the support of the community is needed to make for a successful relay team for passing the baton forward. We are asking our supporting members to help pass forward the preservation of the best of the past by moving toward a stronger vision/mission and purpose. We are asking our supporting members to help step up to the plate to help build a stronger successful future where the legacy of past women’s leadership is propelled forward into the lives of those coming after us. Just like the Daughters of American Revolution quote in their meeting opening messaging “We have a good heritage,” your DWC also is striving to pass its stories of its living legacy heritage forward so to help create a better future for all to experience.
Come see your DWC parade entry for the Holiday at Home Festival Parade on September 2. Kelly King from WDTN/Channel 2 and Kim Villalva, our DWC VP and author of Lincoln: The Servant Leader, will be riding to help bring attention to your active and engaging Dayton Woman’s Club.
