DWC HISTORY
Remember hearing your mother remind you to say, “please” and “thank you?” Those were the most important words for others to hear when navigating one’s way through learning and receiving new gifts of knowledge and experiences. What started as learning about manners in our youth would stick with us and be key to relationships in our future.
And these words stick with us still today—your historic DWC has many members and friends of the club to thank, whether they are on earth or have risen to guardian status. Their generosity left a tremendous impact on who we are today.
Thanks to the generous legacy gifting from past members like Thelma K. Dreese, Ana Caton, and Barbara Ward, your DWC has been allowed to remain open during times of operational support needs.
Saying “Thank You” Never Grows Old
By Margaret Kruckemeyer, DWC President
But it isn’t just legacy givers that we remember and thank. Rest assured, any sharing of one’s time, talents, and skills is priceless in helping your club be viewed as a community gathering/networking asset.
Thanks to our current volunteers, we hope others in the community will join and participate in sustaining the viability of the DWC for future generations to experience and enjoy as a living legacy of women creating networking and learning opportunities for all ages.
We will never tire of saying it—thank you. Thank YOU for all the ways you support the Dayton Woman’s Club!
Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM)
By Kim Villalva, DWC First Vice President
The title of this article is a popular saying used in organizations and teamwork training. It may be simple, but it says a lot. This month our DWC President, Margaret Kruckemeyer, wrote about thanking all the many supporters of the Dayton Woman’s Club. Be they volunteers or financial donors, the support from those who love the DWC has enabled us to continue serving the community.
We are grateful for the many relationships we are building throughout the Dayton community—the many organizations we get to partner with, who support us and for all who walk through our doors for lunches, programs and more.
Take Dayton Architecture’s sponsored Downtown Dayton Photography Walk held on May 18th. After a pleasant sunny afternoon walking through downtown Dayton, a group of about 40 photographers wrapped up the hour-long outing at the Dayton Woman’s Club.
Greeted by DWC tour guides Margaret Kruckemeyer and Mary Jo Osborne, the group enjoyed much-appreciated cold water and a relaxed tour through our historic landmark.
Margaret spoke to her half of the group downstairs in the ballroom and front parlor, while Mary Jo led her group through the many rooms upstairs. Our guests asked a lot of questions and took their time exploring the many beautiful spaces in our home.
