Step into the drama, elegance, and resilience of early America as renowned historical interpreter Jessica Michna brings Dolley Madison to life.
Charming, flamboyant, and strong-willed, Dolley Madison became one of the most beloved First Ladies in American history. Tested by personal tragedy and national crisis, she rose to prominence during the War of 1812—most famously saving priceless artifacts from the White House before British troops set Washington ablaze.
Married first to a man chosen by her father, Dolley was widowed at a young age and strengthened by adversity. She would later marry Congressman James Madison and, as First Lady, become the “Grand Dame of Washington,” shaping the social and political culture of a young nation.
Through first-person storytelling, rich historical detail, and theatrical flair, Jessica Michna offers an unforgettable portrayal of the woman who helped define the role of First Lady and left an enduring mark on American history.
Join us in the beautiful setting of our historic Victorian mansion for this engaging installment of our Celebrate! The 250 Series, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.
We are open to the general public. Our venue is fully accessible with a ramp entrance.
