HIGH TEA
Join us at The Dayton Woman's Club for a traditional High Tea service featuring a delicious assortment of finger sandwiches, scones, and petit fours at our historic Victorian mansion located in downtown Dayton.
FOUNDER’S HALL OF FAME PRESENTATION
Learn about the Founding Mothers of Dayton – women who left a wonderful legacy of service to our community and from whom we still benefit today.
In 1889, the women of Dayton founded the Women’s Literary Club. Other women’s clubs soon followed — each with their own purposes that benefited our community including patriotism, scholarships, child welfare, interest-free loans for young women, housing, and shelter for runaway children.
Some of our own Living Legacy Ladies from The Dayton Woman’s Club will be in attendance to share their stories as well.
LITERARY PRESENTATION
Our guest speaker, T. Douglas Toles, Creative Director of Toles Media, will share the next step of literature with our own Empowered Women, “History of Dayton Women and The Dayton Woman’s Club”, a book by Children’s Historical Publishing
Support for this event has been provided by Ohio Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
Children’s Historical Publishing is a nonprofit organization that was created in 2001 to provide learning-activity books that integrated history, art, science, and technology to enrich the education of grade school students on underrepresented topics. The books serve to educate, entertain and inspire children to grow and realize their potential. To date, more than 500,000 books have been placed in the hands of children.
